The success of Marco De Rossi with Vital Flurin Leuch in the second singles of the match against Liechtenstein was not enough for San Marino to win. San Marino lost with the team of the principality and has to content eleventh final position in Europe Group III Davis Cup. After the double ko against Moldova and Malta in the initial round the blue-white team was defeated also from the match against Liechtenstein valid for the ninth position. Marco De Rossi beat Leuche (6-2 7-5) while Pietro Grassi, author of another hard-fought match, failed to beat Timo Kranz, who won with a score of 1-6 6-3 3-6. In the decisive double then, the duo of Alpine principality formed by Kranz and Robin Forster beat the San Marino boys by 6-2 6-3.
